Violence and Aggression Series (HFV100H)
In response to the growing threat of violence and aggression in hospitals, general practice surgeries and community nursing situations, Human Focus (UK) has produced a unique video training package to help those working in the Healthcare sector.
Based on actual accident reports, it demonstrates how to avoid aggression and if attacked by a patient, family member or intruder, to breakaway and escape.
This package will show staff working in a range of healthcare settings that there is a lot they can do to reduce the risk, and should the worst happen, that they do not have to be a helpless victim. It empowers staff with the skills they need to deal with a serious threat.
Avoiding Aggression shows how to recognise danger signals that could indicate an attack is likely to occur. It shows techniques that could defuse the situation, including the way we react to abuse, the words we use in which to respond and the body language used to help calm the situation.
The second video program Breaking Away From Violence recognises that some violent attacks occur without warning and may be unavoidable. Obviously if you are the victim of an assault, you have every right to escape. However, there could be problems if this entails injury to the aggressor!
Breaking Away From Violence explores a range of techniques designed to enable you to break away if someone physically lays hands on you. These techniques are designed to use the minimal amount of force required to break away and escape, there are no strikes, kicks or punches and they are not in themselves aggressive.
This training package includes:
